Treatment Packages and Subscriptions: Selling Results, Not Single Sessions

Skin treatments work in courses, so your pricing should too. How to build packages and memberships that patients value and that make your schedule more predictable.

Many of the best-loved skin treatments only deliver their full effect over several sessions: laser hair removal, chemical peels, acne programs, microneedling and skin boosters. Pricing them one at a time makes each session a fresh decision the patient can postpone. Packages and memberships align your pricing with how the treatment actually works, and they make the patient's commitment, and your revenue, more predictable.

Packages versus subscriptions

A package is a fixed number of sessions bought together, usually for a specific treatment. A subscription or membership is a recurring payment for ongoing benefits, such as a monthly facial or a discount on all services. Packages suit treatments with a clear course. Memberships suit maintenance, where results depend on regular care.

Designing a package patients want

Base it on the clinical course

Let your doctors set the number of sessions that makes clinical sense. A package should reflect an honest treatment plan, not an arbitrary bundle designed to push volume. Patients can tell the difference, and trust is the core of your business.

Offer a clear benefit

The usual benefit is a lower price per session than paying individually. Others include an added complimentary session, a free consultation, a retail product, or priority booking. Be transparent about the saving so patients feel they made a smart choice.

Keep the choices few

Two or three options per treatment is plenty. A small, medium and large course helps patients self-select without feeling overwhelmed.

Memberships for ongoing care

  • A monthly facial or skin check at a set price.
  • A members' discount on additional services and retail products.
  • Priority booking and extended appointment times.
  • Bonus loyalty points for every membership month.

A membership turns your relationship from occasional to regular. It also creates a healthy rhythm, as patients plan their care around a monthly slot.

Protect patients and yourself with clear terms

Write short, plain terms covering validity period, whether sessions can be shared or transferred, what happens if a patient pauses treatment for medical reasons, and how refunds or conversions work. Check local consumer and medical regulations that apply to pre-paid services. Clear terms prevent disputes and show professionalism.

“A package is a promise on both sides: the patient commits to the course, and the clinic commits to look after them through all of it.”

Make unused sessions visible

The biggest risk with packages is the quiet drift: the patient bought ten sessions, used three and then life took over. Unused sessions become a source of frustration and expiry disputes. Show the remaining sessions in the patient app and send a gentle reminder when it has been a while since the last one.

  1. Confirm the next session before the patient leaves the room.
  2. Send a reminder as the appointment approaches.
  3. Follow up with patients who have sessions left and no future booking.
  4. Send a friendly note before the package expires.

Connect packages to loyalty

Packages and points work well together. Award bonus points for purchasing a package, and for completing it. Completion points reinforce the behaviour you want most, which is finishing the course, and give patients a reason to buy the next one.

Measure what matters

  • Share of revenue from packages and memberships.
  • Package completion rate.
  • Average time between sessions.
  • Repurchase rate after a course ends.

If the completion rate is low, look at scheduling and reminders before changing the offer. Often patients just need an easier way to book the next one.

Start small

Pick your two most popular series treatments, turn each into a package with a clear benefit, and track results for a quarter. Learn from what patients choose before you expand to a larger menu.
